Windows 8 SSD Performance Roundup Nov 2012 @ HH

Windows 8 SSD Performance Roundup November 2012

"In the last few months the SSD market has started to evolve again. Now we have drives which feature a wide range of controllers from various manufacturers that all look to offer the best balance of price/performance or features. Today we are taking a selection of the best and putting them up against each other in a Windows 8 environment."

Glad to see my "old" Vertex 4 is still holding up pretty well Good to see some new players on the market pushing the limits, interesting to see when and how a Vertex 5 performs.

Btw. from Test Spec site page:
The test system was built from scratch, a format of the hard drive was performed (NTFS) and then Windows 7 was installed.

Re: Windows 8 SSD Performance Roundup Nov 2012 @ HH

The article concludes with a recommendation for the "Samsung 840 Series". Not good to make such a general recommendation, based on testing only the "Pro". Once HardwareHeaven gets a chance to test the Samsung 840 (non-pro), it might become apparent that the non-pro version has to compete with the 830 on most real world tests.

Maybe when Samsung fixes the non-pro with a firmware update, it might become recommendable in the future. Or maybe when the price of the non-pro comes close to the 830?

Although it was also clear in the text, i have added clarification to the wording above the score/award that the recommendation is only specific to the Pro.
