Infinity Ward has chosen to remain with DirectX9 for this title and some highlights include excellent smoke effects and wall textures. We are testing at 1920x1200 and 2560x1600 with 4x anti-aliasing and 16x anisotropic filtering.
When testing Call of Duty 4 at 1920x1200 we see that the R700 has near identical performance to the 4870 in CrossFire. This changes when moving up to 2560x1600 and the engineering sample is able to provide higher minimum frames per second due to the additional memory available to each GPU. Looking next to the comparison with the GeForce GTX 280 we see that at both resolutions there is a clear advantage for R700. ATI also have the edge in this test as they have higher levels of anti-aliasing available, currently Nvidia are limited to 4x mode.
