Final Words and Conclusion
The CyberPower Gamer Ultra Perseus deviates from the usual course one might take when building a gaming machine by using an AMD processor, but it executes it with style and the finished product is fantastic. The machine has been put together with care and precision; all the wiring is tidy and the choice of components is also something to admire.
The chassis selection is perfectly suited for the system and the components inside complement each other within the overall system build. The AMD Phenom II X3 720 offers fantastic processing power thanks to the 3.6GHz overclock and the 4GB of DDR3 RAM and HD 4870 make perfect accomplices. As a result, the machine excels in some of the latest titles when tested at 1920x1200. The watercooling setup in the machine is also impressive and is the most expensive option they offer in their configurator.
When looking at the price of the machine (£1,339.75 including VAT) it certainly is quite a bit above the magic £1000 mark but when you add all of the components it is very reasonably priced, especially considering shipping is free. Buying the components from an online retailer you will find yourself spending about £1100. £89 of the quoted price is for the XXX overclocking option, which certainly takes the engineer a fair amount of time as every chip reacts differently to being pushed. Additionally, a watercooling setup will add considerable time to a build, especially since in good practise you should ideally run the loop for up to 24 hours as a leak test before installing it.
To add value to the package CyberPower offer a 3 year limited warranty which covers any hardware defects or failures in the system, a time-span longer than many custom PC builders offer.
