Introduction

Nvidia’s current range of mainstream and high end products (GTX 260/275/285/295) first began hitting the market in September of last year with the release of the GTX 260 with 216 unified shaders. Nearly eleven months on there is still no indication when the next range of products will be released but this should not worry consumers as the passing of time has brought reduced prices on the current generation.  This means that upgrading an aging system by replacing an old GPU or adding a 2nd for SLI need not be something which is unaffordable, even in the current economic climate.

Today we have one product from each of the mainstream and high-end GeForce families on our test bench to see what performance each offers for its price point. Read on to find out what can be achieved through a simple upgrade as we test each in a selection of the latest games and GPU computing applications.
