Playon! HD and Playon! HD Mini Review

AC Ryan PlayON! HD and HD Mini Network Players

Recently Hardware Heaven had an opportunity to talk with Paula Stevenson from A.C. Ryan, about their company and products and we were more than a little impressed by what she had to say. Today we'll be taking a closer look at two of their products, the PlayON! HD and PlayON! HD Mini to find out if they live up to the hype. The PlayON! HD is a set top box with inbuilt hard drive that will play a wide array of media directly from the unit or via your network (either wired or wireless) and the Mini has much of the same functionality but without the inbuilt storage.

PlayON! HD Features:
  • The Worlds first Full HD Realtek chipset based Media Player.
  • Operates as a NAS (Network Attached Storage) when connected to user's local network.
  • Bittorent client for downloading directly to the internal HDD.
  • Unique movie jukebox feature based on YAMJ (Yet Another Movie Jukebox) application.
  • Full support of Composite/Component/HDMI 1.3 video output, as well as Composite/SPDIF Coaxial/Toslink/HDMI audio output.
  • Frequent firmware update advantage.
The PlayON! HD Mini Features:
  • Automatically turns any attached USB storage device into a NAS device.
  • Silent, using an effective heat dissipation design without the use of an exhaust cooling fan.
  • Unique movie jukebox feature based on YAMJ (Yet Another Movie Jukebox) application.
  • Frequent firmware update advantage.
