GIGABYTE NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 SLI, 3-Way SLI, 3D Vision & Surround Review

Gigabyte NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 Review

So a couple of weeks ago NVIDIA PR made a rather cryptic call to Hardware Heaven HQ. "We need you to come to London" a muffled voice said... "but I can't tell you why...". Regardless of how much we tried to persuade the contact no information was forthcoming, just a set of plane tickets and the promise of free food and who can turn down the latter? Certainly not us so on the plane we jumped and headed for our top secret destination.

Having passed through numerous levels of security just to get into the office there, beside a less than inspiring spread of food was Tom Petersen who many people will remember as the public face of NVIDIA's GTX 480 launch... so this has to be something cool, surely???

And indeed it was as for the next couple of hours Tom took us though a demonstration of NVIDIA's new GTX 580 and to our surprise it was launching on the 9th of November, well in advance of everyone's expectations.

So today we have not one, not two but three GTX 580's on our test bench and we will be running them through a huge amount of real world testing to show everyone reading the complete picture of GTX 580. From standard gaming at 1920x1080 to surround gameplay at 5760x1080. 3D Vision to Blu-Ray 3D via a comparison with AMD HD3D. GPU computing and PhysX... F1 2010 with the DX11 patch and even Call of Duty: Black Ops... It's all here in comparisons which include the GTX 480, Radeon 5870, 5870 Crossfire, 5970 and 6870.
