Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz 12GB Kit Review

Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz 12GB Kits

For some time now the standard memory configuration for Intel's X58 platform and Core i7 CPUs has tended to be 3x 2GB. These 6GB configurations were popular as they offered a good level of performance in the Windows environment, could be taken advantage of in a 64-bit OS and were much more affordable than the next step up, 12GB kits. There was also the issue that performance in the 12GB area wasn't really a match for the 6GB counterparts with limited overclocking potential being an issue.

As DDR3 has evolved the opportunity for manufacturers to create high performance 12GB kits has drawn closer and today one of the major players in this industry, Corsair, have sent us their new DDR3-1600 12GB triple channel kit to test. In fact we have two of these and thanks to a very aggressive price they should be within reach of most consumers building (or upgrading) an X58/i7 based system. Are they worth buying? Let's find out.
