AMD Phenom II X4 975 Black Edition Processor and ECS A890GXM-A2 Review

Platform Benchmarks

SiSoft Sandra allows us to see how a system performs in a set of synthetic tests which ensure repeatable comparisons across a wide range of products.

Results

USB 3.0
To test the USB performance of the products we connected an OCZ Enyo portable SSD and tested read and write speeds on the systems USB 3.0 ports.

Results

For memory bandwidth results on the AMD platform we see results which are in-line with the rest of the Phenom 2 range. SATA 6GB/s performance is good, though not quite at the level of the Intel/Marvell chipsets.

USB 3.0 performance varies depending on the controller used. We always like to see NEC controllers on our boards as they are fast and stable with good driver support. This shows in the P67/55 results which are very good. ECS however use a different controller and the results do suffer because of this, though they still significantly exceed anything possible on USB 2.0.
