||HIS 6970 Turbo
||GeForce GTX 570
In the above tests we see that despite being an overclocked model the HIS Turbo is still able to produce better power performance than the GTX 570. Temperatures slightly favour the NVIDIA model however this is entirely down to fan profiles in the driver which aim to balance noise levels.
On the noise front we are happy to report that HIS have fine tuned the fan profile since we last reviewed a 6970 and the card no longer fluctuates in RPM regularly, it is a steady increase and decrease which is much more desirable.
Our HIS card is overclocked at the factory but despite this we were still able to increase the core and memory on the card using MSIs Afterburner utility or AMDs Overdrive. For this particular sample we were able to increase the core to 1000MHz and the memory went to 1500MHz with full stability. That's an increase of 120MHz and 125Mhz over the reference design.
Here is the impact this overclock had on our 3DMark 11 performance.
