In our first set of results, shown above, we look at the performance of the unit when using our various testing tools to stress the PSU in a controlled environment at 40c. Looking first to the 12v, 3.3v and 5v performance we have a PSU which supplies good readings across the board. As expected performance is strong in the 400w-500w range, well within specification. AC ripple is very good, exceeding the recommended ratings by some way. The standard for the industry states no more than 50Mv on 3.3/5v and 120mv on 12v so Corsair are well within specification at 12/35(out of 50) on 3.3/5v and 79(out of 120) on 12v.
Looking at the efficiency of the PSU, the 800w version meets the 80 Plus specification, even at 40c with the 100% load reading a little above the 80% required. That said, we are testing at a much higher (more demanding) temperature than is use for the official certification. Noise levels are also good with the unit remaining near silent for the majority of our testing, only becoming noticeable at around 80% load.
Finally we have exhaust temperature. The results produced by our sample were decent, not quite at the level of Corsairs higher spec units but perfectly acceptable.
