Sapphire Radeon HD 6790 Graphics Card Review

Eyefinity - Civilization 5 - DirectX 11

Civilization 5 was released at the end of September 2010 and in a somewhat surprising move the developers have included a number of advanced graphical features in the latest version of this franchise. This includes support for DirectX 11 and terrain tessellation, ensuring this is the best looking Civilization ever.

Testing was performed at 1920x1080 (8xAA) and 5760x1080. High in-game settings were enabled.

For today's Eyefinity test we are using Civilization 5 but before we look at that performance we have also included a 1920x1080 test. At that resolution it was great to see the 6790 achieve playable performance with maximum detail and 8x anti-aliasing. The 550 Ti gives us higher performance (when AA is forced in the driver) however what it cannot do is power 3 screens at once which the Radeon can.

With 3 screens enabled for a more immersive gaming experience the 6790 performed flawlessly, offering us an average of 31fps.

Here is how the game looks at our tested settings.
