This test is included in our reviews as it offers a synthetic way of looking at the random read/write operations which are performed constantly by our operating system. In theory the higher the score in this test the more responsive our drive will be in day to day use. In this test a mechanical drive such as the Barracuda XT or VelociRaptor score around 2.0/1.5MB/s which gives us a baseline figure for performance.
With that in mind it is easy to see the advantages that the 320 series has over the mechanical drives normally found in mobile devices. We also note that the 320 is scoring higher in this test than Intel's 510 series which is tuned differently. Read operations are a particular highlight for the 320 when compared to a SandForce model though the latter scores better in write operations.
