To start our build we installed the PSU into the available space before sliding forward the tool free bracket which secures it in place. The power cables from our PSU fit neatly away behind a large cut out which is the only one not to be supplied with a rubber grommet. This does mean that the chunky power cables fit through easily.
After installing the PSU up next was the motherboard. Although the Obsidian 650D is a mid-tower case we found we had plenty of room to work in and the motherboard was easy to slide into its place. Worth noting at this point is that the Obsidian 650D has pre-installed stand-offs for the motherboard which saves some time.
We fitted our 2.5" SSD into the top 3.25" drive bay using the screws provided with the case. We found the drive was easy to secure to the caddy and once fitted the caddy slide neatly back into the drive bay using the tool free mechanism that Corsair has provided for all its drive bays.
Installing our remaining components was a straight forward process. We found that the cut-outs provided in the case helped in managing the process and ensured that our cables were kept neat and tidy. Overall the installation took approx. 1.5hrs and we found the whole process trouble free.
