Sapphire Radeon HD 6950 2GB DiRT 3 Edition Graphics Card Review

Conclusion

Over the past 7 months we have seen a number of Radeon 6950s from various manufacturers and the Sapphire DiRT 3 Edition is without doubt the most impressive.

With this card we get a custom PCB, high performance /low noise cooler, high quality memory and good display output selection. Added to this is the dual BIOS switch which allows us to attempt low risk BIOS flashes and the card already seems well rounded.

When we then consider that it breezed through all of our 1920x1080 testing with maximum detail enabled and was then able to enhance media playback and conversion things get even better. DiRT 3 performance is of course key on this card and we were pleased to see that there were no problems playing at ultra-detail levels, even when enabling 3 screen gaming.

In terms of value the card also scores well, offering a free copy of DiRT 3, a free HDMI cable (as well as all other items we might require) and the bundle is rounded off by membership to Sapphire Select Club where we can win additional items and download software. Then of course we have to take into account that Sapphire has built the card in a way that maximises the chances of flashing to a higher specification model, saving more money.

Summary
A great bundle, high end performance and a high quality card design elevate the Sapphire 6950 DiRT 3 Edition above the competition.
