Sapphire Radeon HD 6950 2GB DiRT 3 Edition Graphics Card Review

DiRT 3 - DirectX 11

DiRT 3 features a new version of Codemasters EGO engine which, like the Dirt 2 and F1 2010 versions, features support for DirectX 11. DirectX 11 mode is enabled by selecting ultra-detail and from this we gain improvements such as enhanced lighting and advanced tessellation.

Testing was performed at 1920x1080 and ultra in game settings were enabled as well as 8x anti-aliasing and 16x anisotropic filtering.

DiRT 3 performance was clearly going to be something which was important for this particular card and the good news is that the Sapphire 6950 has no problems playing the game at 1920x1080 with all settings at their maximum level. This of course maximises the image quality for the game.

The only downside? The fact that the 560 Ti performs a little better overall, though it would be hard to tell the two systems apart.

Here is how the game looks at our tested settings.

NOTE: On page 9 we look at Dirt 3 Eyefinity performance.
