HIS Radeon HD 6970 IceQ Mix Graphics Card Review

HIS Radeon HD 6970 IceQ Mix Review

Over the past few weeks there have been a number of new Radeon 6950 cards released by some of AMD's key partners. The DiRT 3 Edition from Sapphire is one example, the Vortex 2 from PowerColor is another. What we haven't seen lately though is a significant new card in the 6970 family and part of that seems to be down to availability with one manufacturer recently telling us that they preferred we review their 6950 as 6970s were in short supply for them.

HIS are bucking the trend for custom 6950s today with a new version of the 6970, the IceQ Mix. While it has a name which could make people think of a cold drink it is actually a rather interesting take on the 6970 featuring a large, low noise custom cooler and the first real attempt we have seen at implementing Lucids HydraLogix 200 controller on a graphics card. So let's take a look at how it performs in a selection of real world gaming, media and GPU computing tasks.
