The result in this test will go some way to showing how responsive a drive will be in Windows use as the operations performed are similar to the random reads and writes regularly performed by the OS. The result shows a huge increase in write performance for the RevoDrive 3 X2 over the performance possible on the Agility 3 and original X2. Reads are a little closer in terms of the two X2's but again a huge gap can be seen between SATA3 and PCIe. So what about that claim of 230k IOPS?
Moving on to IOMETER we have a test which helps us see the industry standard IOPS figure for the RevoDrive 3 X2... except the industry standard just changed. Until now most tests would have been based on IOMETER 2008 however the RevoDrive 3 X2 actually exceeds what is possible on that test and so 2010 is preferred, configured for a very demanding two manager, two worker setup to simulate multi-threaded and multi-application use.
OCZ recommend two different test scenarios for the drive (8GB LBA and 85% LBA), we have listed the highest reading we saw during testing below.
In our testing we found the RevoDrive 3 X2 topped out at 226,000 IOPS which is a staggering figure and on a different planet to current consumer SSD's which at most hit 85,000.
