By opening the PSU we can see the model information for the large 12cm fan. This double ball bearing thermally regulated fan is manufactured by ADDA and is a 7 blade, 2200RPM, DC model with 12v/0.37A operation. The model number is AD1212HB-A71GL and the official specifications tell us that it has a rating of 85.2CFM for airflow and 39.1dBA noise level. Worth noting is that PCP&C have gone to the effort of sleeving the fan wire from the area it exists the fan casing down towards the plug on the PCB and it is held in place on the fan chassis by white adhesive.
Inside the Silencer Mk3 we have a very spacious design with minimal heatsinks. Where appropriate components are given extra stability by white adhesive. High quality components are used throughout including Japanese capacitors which we will look at shortly.
The Silencer Mk3 also features various protection functionality. First up is Over-Voltage Protection which ensures that the 12, 5 and 3.3v outputs do not exceed a set level. Over-Current Protection works on the same outputs to ensure DC voltage remains within safe limits. Short-Circuit protection is included too and powers off the PSU should any of the 3.3v, 5v or 12v rails short.
In terms of key features we have a unit which has a single +12v rail rated for 46A. Mixed with this decent specification is an 80 Plus Bronze certification which means it has passed certification of 82% efficiency at 20% and 100% load with 50% load rated at over 85% (120V).
Looking a little closer at the design well known, branded components are found throughout most of the unit such as Japanese capacitors. It is great to see on this mainstream model that each is rated for 105°C rather than 85°C which can often be seen on value orientated products. Commonly used brands such as Rubycon are present and the larger model on the primary side is Nippon branded (560µF-400v).
