CM Storm Sirus 5.1 Gaming Headset Review

CM Storm Sirus 5.1 Gaming Headset Review

Today we'll be taking a look at the Sirus True 5.1 surround sound gaming headset from CM Storm, the gaming peripheral arm of Cooler Master. The Sirus is the first headset produced by CM Storm and given the quality of the previous products we have seen from them has a lot to live up to.

Packaging and Bundle

The Sirus is provided in a medium sized cardboard box, with the now familiar red and black styling of CM Storm. The front of the box features a large plastic window that shows part of the headset as well as the tactical mixing console. It also has a graphic of the headset as well as a note that the Sirus has won a RedDot design award (product design 2011).

Turning to the back of the box we find another picture of the headset and tactical mixing console along with an introduction to the Sirus. The key features of the Sirus are also listed, provided in a number of languages.

Opening the box we find the headset and tactical mixing console securely held in a plastic mould, which ensures that the product is kept undamaged during transport. The headset is secured with plastic ties and the tactical mixing console fits snuggly into its moulded housing.

Along with the headset and tactical mixing console, CM Storm has provided some extra items which add to the overall bundle. Firstly we find two replacement ear-cups, finished in leatherette and while the micro fibre versions provided as standard on the headset are very comfortable it is nice that CM Storm have given us the option to change if we prefer. A quick start guide is also provided as well as a note to tell us to download the Sirus software at the CM Storm website.

Finally CM Storm have provided a cable connection should we already have a 5.1 soundcard installed on our PC. This would mean we wouldn't use the tactical mixing console provided and instead use our existing soundcard.
