Tritton Detonator XBOX 360 Headset Review

The world of gaming is a multi-sensory place, plunging us into fanciful worlds and enthralling experiences. A frequently overlooked aspect of the gaming experience is the audio which is normally eclipsed by the more obvious and in some ways easier to critique graphic elements. Good quality audio immeasurably enhances our experience of a game so today we are testing the Tritton Detonator, not an explosive trigger mechanism but a stereo headset for the XBOX 360.

Tritton, is a subsidiary of the Mad Catz group and is a brand that is focused extensively on developing industry leading headsets for all gaming platforms. In September 2011 we reviewed the Tritton AX 120 headset, now we have a chance to test the Detonator.

Packaging and Bundle


Tritton package the Detonator in a large box which features a clear moulded plastic front that allows us to see the headset. The front of the box is emblazoned with the XBOX 360 logo indicating that this headset is produced under licence for the XBOX 360 console.

Turning the box over we find a product image and some information on the key features of the Detonator in a number of languages. On the bottom of the box we find some legal statements and a list of the box contents.


Opening the Detonator's packaging we find the headset, along with the Quick Start Guide, User Guide, Headset Connector Cable, Analog Audio Adapter, In-line Audio Controller and removable Microphone. The manual provides a thorough explanation of how to connect the headset to our XBOX 360.
