Nokia Lumia 800 with Windows Phone 7.5 Review

For as long as this reviewer can remember Nokia have been producing some excellent handsets, from those early models which brought Snake to the masses, to more recent devices like the N97. Most were well received for their time but as iOS and the iPhone picked up significant users, followed by Android, it was clear that the Symbian operating system which Nokia had used for some time just wasn't grabbing users well enough... even on handsets which clearly offered some great features such as the 12mp camera on the N8.

It is one thing knowing that a significant change needs made to a business, it is quite another taking the leap but that's exactly what Nokia decided to do by teaming up with Microsoft and designing their next handset with Windows Phone in mind.

Launched recently the Lumia 800 is Nokia's first Windows based phone and one of the first handsets in a new wave of devices on the platform. With the latest OS, version 7.5 (Mango), we have been using the handset for a week now in day to day use, read on to find out our thoughts on the handset and OS. Including whether it has tempted us to make the jump from an alternate high end handset.

Packaging and Bundle

Nokia package their handset in a box which has the familiar blue colour associated with the brand and on the front we get a view of the handset as well as a clue that various colours are available. Sliding off the main cover we find the handset wrapped in a protective packet and suspended in a cardboard tray. Underneath the extra items are separated into smaller boxes and compartments.

With the Lumia 800 Nokia bundle some product documentation, in-ear headset, USB cable and protective rubber case. Also included is a compact PSU which we can use with the USB cable to charge the phone.
