Nokia Lumia 800 Windows Phone Review

Nokia Lumia 800 Windows Phone

Nokia offer the Lumia 800 in a selection of colours which are blue, pink and the version we have which is black. The handset measures 116.5x61.2x12.1mm and weighs 142g featuring a scratch resistant soft touch body with curved Corning Gorilla Glass used for the screen. The AMOLED 3.7" capacitive screen has a resolution of 480x800 pixels with a 252ppi density and Nokia ClearBlack technology.

Down the right edge of the handset we find the traditional style buttons for volume up/down, screen lock/power and camera. There are no buttons or features on the left side of the handset.

At the base of the handset we can see a grill which covers the microphone (active noise cancellation) and loudspeaker. Also shown are the three touch sensitive buttons at the base of the screen, back, Windows/Home and Search.

Up at the other end of the handset we have our 3.5mm headset connector and two panels. These have stickers on them to begin with. Push panel 1 to reveal the micro-USB connector and then side panel 2 to reveal the micro-sim slot.

Over on the back of the Lumia 800 we find that the same hard durable body is used also. Then in the centre we find our camera with dual LED flash. This is an 8megapixel model with Carl Zeiss optics and auto-focus is supported as is geo-tagging and 720p video at 30fps.

Inside the handset Nokia have opted for a Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon processor (1.4GHz Scorpion) with Adreno 205 GPU. The OS is provided with 512MB of RAM and storage on the Lumia 800 is 16GB, not expandable.

The Lumia 800 supports HSDPA 14.4, HSUPA 5.76MBPS, Wi-Fi-n, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP/EDR and A-GPS. Accelerometer, compass and proximity sensor are also present as is a Stereo FM radio.
