FSP Aurum CM Series Gold 650M Power Supply Review

FSP may not be a brand which is well known to consumers but for some time now they have been designing and creating a wide range of power related products. With items in their product catalogue that include industrial and medical power supplies their brand, and products, are trusted by users around the world and this has resulted in them entering the top five list of PSU vendors worldwide.

A number of years ago FSP started producing retail power supplies for desktop PCs and during 2011 released their 80 Plus Gold Certified range of PSUs. There are two ranges available in the Aurum range, standard and semi-modular and today we have the 650w version of the modular PSU on our test bench.

Packaging and Bundle


FSP package their Aurum Series in a box which uses a colour scheme designed to identify the Gold Certification. Inside we find the PSU on display, surrounded by cardboard and three of the sides flip open to reveal the bundled items.


Bundled with the PSU we get a decent manual, thumbscrews for installation, fabric cable ties, case sticker and modular cables. One point of note is that the modular cables are flat, ideal for assisting with keeping case wiring tidy.


FSP were also keen to point out that they don't just do PSU's and so bundled a small device with our review sample. The item shown above is a charger which uses solar power to ensure we can top up our phone, camera or media player when on the move.
