MSI GT683DXR Gaming Laptop Review

Without doubt one of the main headlines as far as hardware goes is currently Ultrabooks. They offer a stylish, compact approach to mobile computing with plenty of battery life and decent performance. They are not for everyone though as the design ethic leads Ultrabooks down a path of limited storage, mid-range CPUs and integrated graphics. Ideal for productivity, media playback and browsing but not exactly great at content creation or gaming.

For the market segment where Ultrabooks are not suitable we have desktop replacement systems and one such machine is the MSI GT683DXR. Based on a familiar chassis it offers high end mobile speakers, a full HD screen and powerful CPU/GPU combination. Did we mention the dual hard drives in Raid 0 or 8GB of DDR3-1333, upgradable to 32GB? No. Well read on to find out what MSI can offer for the mobile enthusiast.

Packaging and Bundle

The MSI system arrives in a large plain box and inside, along with an added extra (more on that in a moment) we find the main box which shows the system in detail while listing some key features. Inside that box we find the system suspended in cardboard and wrapped in protective bag with various surfaces covered by plastic sections to ensure the machine arrives in pristine condition.



As noted above our system arrives with an extra gift and that is a good quality MSI branded backpack. Also bundled with the system we find product documentation, software disc and a mouse which make up a decent set of extras. Also included is our 180w compact PSU which has a separate mains plug that varies depending on region.
