NETGEAR Powerline Nano500 Set and Powerline 200 Mini HomePlug AV Network Adapters Review

NETGEAR Powerline Nano500 (XAVB5101) and Powerline 200 Mini (XAVB1301) Review

For networking products, we would have to go a long way to find someone who hadn't heard of NETGEAR. They've been in the business of networking our homes since 1996 and many would consider them to be the market leader in wired and wireless devices. This is true of both consumers and ISPs who regularly bundle NETGEAR kit when giving away items to new connections.

That said when setting up a network at home many people feel quite restricted because they can go wireless, but need extra cards/dongles for each machine, or wired and often feel they need to place a desk beside the router/modem as cables are hard to hide. In recent times we have seen a solution to this though, powerline networking which looks to use our existing house wiring to pass signals between rooms. Has it progressed enough to be considered a better alternative than more standard methods? Today we find out as the subject of this review is powerline connectivity at a consumer level using two products from NETGEAR's range the Powerline 200 Mini and Powerline Nano500 Set.
