ASUS Transformer Pad (TF300) Android Tablet Review

When ASUS released their first Transformer tablet back in March 2011 they managed to fill a few gaps in the market all at once. Firstly it was seen as a high end tablet with top notch build quality and great specifications.Secondly it offered great battery life to back that up where many other tablets offered spec's or better, not both. Finally, combined with the keyboard dock the functionality was further expanded to make it suitable for productivity use rather than just a device for consuming content.

The ASUS tablet range was expanded a number of months ago with the Slider which built the keyboard into the main body and more recently we saw the Transformer Prime. As well as having a truly awesome name the Transformer prime with its Tegra 3 chipset and high quality metal chassis really impressed and as with the original model the optional dock offered a tablet experience far exceeding the competition.

Following the success of the Prime ASUS have designed a new tablet which sits somewhere between the original Transformer and its follow up. Taking specifications from the newer model and a functionality from both that model is the Transformer Pad 300 and today we have it on our test bench.

Packaging and Bundle


The Transformer Pad 300 arrives in a box which shows a clear image of the product on the front. Once we remove the foam reinforced cardboard lid we find the Transformer Prime resting on a shelf, wrapped in plastic just like the dock. Beneath them is a compartment that holds bundled items.


Bundled with the Transformer is the product documentation which is elegantly packaged in its own separate black card wallet and consists of a warranty card and user manual. We also receive a charger, with changeable plug head and when the charger USB cable is removed from the plug attachment it doubles as a data cable allowing the Transformer to be connected to a PC or notebook using the pre-loaded PC Sync software. As a nice touch a cleaning cloth is also included.
