ASUS Republic of Gamers Xonar Phoebus Soundcard Review

ASUS RoG Xonar Phoebus 7.1 Gaming Soundcard Review

Phoebus, or Apollo as he is known to his close friends, was the son of Zeus and amongst other things god of sun, light and music. When we combine that title with a play on the word Sonar which was first recorded by Leonardo Da Vinci in 1490 we have a product which must be of a certain quality to live up to the billing... add the Republic of Gamers brand to that and expectations go through the roof but that is exactly what we have in our hands.

Aimed very much at providing a fantastic gaming experience whether it be 2.0 via the headphone amp or 7.1 through the multi-channel outputs the Xonar Phoebus is, at least on paper, the latest in a line of impressive audio products from ASUS. Today we will be taking a look at the card in detail to find out if it can live up to some very high expectations.

Packaging and Bundle

ASUS package their Xonar Phoebus in a box which has similar design to motherboards from the Republic of Gamers brand. The product name features prominently and below it a list of the key features ASUS want to push. Inside we find the product manual, software CD, power cable and SPDIF TOSLINK optical adapter.
