Schenker XMG P722 Gaming Laptop Review

Battery Life, Power Use and Temperatures

To test the temperature and power use of the system we let the system idle at the desktop for 15 minutes and then took a reading for each aspect. Load tests were performed after 15 minutes of gaming with a video encode running at the same time.

  Idle Load
Schenker XMG P722 Power 53w 168w
Schenker XMG P722 CPU Temp 46°C 81°C
Schenker XMG P722 NV GPU Temp 37/33°C 65/63°C

Overall the power and thermal readings from the P722 are decent for the product class. The idle readings are actually particularly good on both fronts with minimal power draw being a highlight. When we move to load tests the temperatures remain within acceptable limits and the fan noise never becomes intrusive. As we game the power draw is also good, though it can peak over 200w in some scenarios. That is still well within the 300w limit of the bundled PSU.

Now for the battery results:

Results

In this test we are using Powermark and the balanced profile which loads the CPU with internet, HD video and word processing tasks shows the battery level to be pretty standard for a desktop replacement system. Real world use shows the same and once again this is to be expected given the components used with nearly 3 hours of use on a single charge. When it comes to recharging, we recorded around 2.5hrs from empty to 100% with the laptop on.
