Our music conversion test takes a 2CD lossless album and converts it using dBpoweramp into 128Kbps Mp3 format. dBpoweramp is a multi-threaded application which allows us to convert a track on each core/thread, at any one time.
In our media encoding tests there is a clear gap in performance between the two systems with a lot of this down to the SSD used in the P722 which allows our CPU to stretch its legs without a read/write bottleneck. The same can be said of the music test where the 8 threads on our CPU are fully utilized, converting two full CDs in just 50 seconds.
