NETGEAR D6300 Wireless-AC Modem Router Review

Wireless-AC is a reasonably new technology for home consumers, aimed at maximising speeds within our network and we looked at the R6300, NETGEAR's first ac capable product back in October finding it to be a very impressive product for those with cable/fibre connections. ADSL users were limited in their options though, needing to have a stand-alone modem to use it but now the D6300 Wireless Router is available, along with NETGEARs new A6200 USB Adapter. The D6300 is essentially identical to the R6300 only this time NETGEAR have covered all bases with the inclusion of an ADSL2+ modem as well as the functionality to use any cable/fiber modem. The A6200 is NETGEAR's first USB Adapter to use the 802.11ac specification and enable users to connect to their ac equipment at above Wireless-N speeds.

Packaging and Bundle



The D6300 arrives in the standard recognisable NETGEAR packaging. On the sturdy cardboard outer box we see the product image and various specification call outs along with information on the NETGEAR Genie software which is available for smartphones as well as Mac/PC. The remaining sides of the box feature more in-depth detail on the specifications and a handy comparison chart between the various performance levels of the NETGEAR product range.

Inside the box we have a formed cardboard piece for protection of the product. The router has a plastic film applied to the front protecting the piano black finish. Bundled with the router is a series of documentation, Cat 5e cable, RJ11 cable, ADSL filter and the mains power supply/plug.
