Gigabyte Aivia Osmium Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Review

Aivia is the high end gaming peripheral range from Gigabyte and in the past we have been very impressed with the products produced by them, noting both the high build quality and the innovative features. Today on our test bench we have the new Osmium keyboard from Aivia. The Osmium is a mechanical gaming keyboard and, if you pay attention to the marketing blurb from Gigabyte, is named after the rare blue platinum metal. Offering some interesting features we put the Osmium through its paces to see if it keeps up the high standard that Aivia/Gigabyte have set.

Packaging and Bundle


The Osmium is supplied in a large cardboard box. The front of the box features a large picture of the Osmium in fully illuminated mode and also highlights some of the key features of the board; primary amongst them is its support for USB 3.0.


Turning over to the back of the package we find that Aivia have highlighted more of the key features of the Osmium. They take the time to point out that the Osmium features Cherry RED mechanical key switches as well as independent illumination and volume controls on the keyboard.


Opening up the box we find that the keyboard is secured with a foam surround, ensuring that it won't be damaged during transit. The Osmium features a full size wrist rest which is already attached within the box.


As an added extra the Osmium is supplied with four customised key caps and a tool to change out the existing key caps. These can be used anywhere on the keyboard.
