After being informed by Lite-On
that there was a sample of their SOHW-1633S available for review,
I was immediately sent it. The drive arrived the next morning
via UPS.

Drive:
Lite-On is known
for supplying a complete package with their drives. So it is no
surprise to see the SOHW-1633S come equipped with Ahead Nero 6
OEM suite and CyberLink PowerDVD 5.
As you can see Lite-On
supplied plenty of media for me to conduct tests on the drive
with. The retail package does not include any DVD DL media, which
is the norm as no other company supplies any either. The SOHW-1633S
does, however, include one 8x DVD+R disc and one 4x DVD-R disc.

The SOHW-1633S is
a half-height drive as most modern drives are. Lite-On were the
first I saw to implement this technology.

The SOHW-1633S is aesthetically
the same as Lite-On's previous drives. Its bezel is relatively
'plain', but I don't know anyone who buys a DVD burner, nor any
other internal computer component for its look. The SOHW-1633S
does have a certain sleek elegance to it.
