Plextor M5 Pro SSD Review

Plextor M5 Pro 256GB Solid State Drive Review

Thinking back a few years there were many who considered Plextor optical drives to be the best around. Nowadays they still sell high quality optical drives however have also branched out into some other storage products such as the easy back-up solution that is the PlexEasy, NAS and SSDs.

Plextor's SSD range is the subject of our review today and we are going to look at the M5 Pro, one of the first drives around to use Marvell's newest controller. How does it stack up against the likes of OCZ's Vector and the Samsung 840 Pro? Let's find out...

Packaging and Bundle

Plextor use an eye-catching blue, reflective design for their SSD packaging and on the front we get a decent image of the drive as well as some key specification details. Inside the box are a quick guide, warranty information and a drive bay adapter that allows us to install this device in a 3.5" location. Also included is some drive cloning software from NTI which will assist those who want to migrate from an existing drive without reinstalling the whole OS.
