ZOTAC ZBOX ID83 Plus Mini-PC Review

For some time now we have seem manufacturers such as Sapphire, Dell and ASRock attempting to build mini-PCs which pack in as much performance as possible to as small a chassis as they can. This has resulted in some rather interesting little boxes and while Sapphires Edge range has probably been the most impressive of those three brands they have stiff competition from ZOTAC and their ZBOX range.

Sapphire recently released the AMD A8 based Edge VS8 mini-PC and now we get a chance to see what ZOTAC's latest generation of system can offer in comparison. The ZBOX ID83 Plus takes us into Ivy Bridge in a system which is comparable in size to a decent router, let's find out how it performs...

Packaging and Bundle


ZOTAC go for a familiar box design with this ZBOX and as well as giving us a nice clear image of the product we also get some specification information. Inside the PC is surrounded by cardboard with the various bundled extras underneath (and to the side). Then for added protection our system is wrapped in foam and coated in peel off protective plastic.


Bundled with the system we get a remote control, desktop stand, DVI to VGA dongle, Wi-Fi antenna, batteries (for the remote), mains cable, product software/documentation and PSU. The PSU is a 90w model manufactured by Delta Electronics and as a final item we get a mount to install the system on the back of a screen.
