ZOTAC ZBOX ID83 Plus Mini-PC Review

Power Use and Temperatures

To test the temperature and power use of the system we let the system idle at the desktop for 15 minutes and then took a reading for each aspect. Load tests were performed after 15 minutes of Prime95 and Furmark running the CPU and GPU at 100%.

  Idle Load
ZOTAC ZBOX ID83 Plus - Power 29w 65w
ZOTAC ZBOX ID83 Plus - CPU Temp 49°C 78°C
ZOTAC ZBOX ID83 Plus - HDD Temp 41°C 47°C
Sappire EDGE VS8 - Power 24w 53w
Sappire EDGE VS8 - APU Temp 54°C 70°C
Sappire EDGE VS8 - HDD Temp 45°C 46°C

Overall the power and thermal readings from the ZOTAC are a little higher than the AMD based VS8. We are still within acceptable levels, as well as the power rating for the PSU but we also noted that this system gets a touch nosier than the Sapphire too. Not by too much, or to a degree which is a problem, but the Sapphire is quieter.
