ZOTAC GeForce GTX 780 AMP! Edition Graphics Card Review
by Stuart Davidson - 13th August 2013
As is normally the case with more recent GeForce cards at the launch of the GTX 780 we saw a whole range of manufacturers release reference design, stock clocked cards. Over the past couple of months though those same manufacturers have been busy creating custom cooled, overclocked models and barely a week goes by without a new, "fastest ever" 780 hitting the market.
ZOTAC GeForce GTX 780 AMP! Edition (Overclocked)
ZOTAC stick with a familiar box design, noting the AMP! /Overclock features and giving prominence to their game bundle. That is the Splinter Cell Compilation which includes a code for Blacklist. Also bundled inside we find a CD, manual, power cable, and DVI to VGA dongle.
Not long ago ZOTAC significantly changed their cooler on AMP! Edition cards and a version of that appears here too. Using a metal shroud rather than plastic and moving to a 3fan design with orange blades this is a model which stands out. Under those fans is a large aluminium heatsink, copper GPU block and 5 heatpipes. ZOTAC use a Black PCB on this card and we can see from the back that it featuers the standard 2 SLI connectors which will allow us to add in multiple 780s for enhanced performance if we wish.
Around at the card outputs there are no surprised as we have four present on this GTX 780 with two Dual-Link DVIs starting us off, followed by a HDMI 1.4 and then a full size DisplayPort connector. The GTX 780 is capable of running four screens at one time with three available for surround gaming at resolutions such as 5760x1080 and the fourth running off a separate controller for desktop applications such as messaging.
