ASUSTOR AS-302T NAS Review

ASUSTOR AS-302T NAS Review (2013 range with ADM 2.0 software)

Formed in 2011 ASUSTOR have the goal of becoming the no.1 NAS manufacturer in the world... no easy feat in an industry which is filled with popular ranges from Synology, Drobo and the like. So with such a short company history, but backed by the might of ASUS, we were very interested to see what they offered and our first taste was the AS-604T back in July. A robust casing, good design and interesting OS it offered a look at their vision. Now with a new range of NAS, and a new OS to run on their devices and some iOS/Android apps we get to see how the products have evolved in the form of the AS-302T.

Packaging and Bundle

ASUSTOR package their NAS devices in a plain cardboard box with branding and information stickers applied. A handle helps us move the box around, or get it back from the store and inside we find the unit wrapped in plastic and suspended in foam.

In a separate box within the main packaging we find our bundled items and those are drive installation screws, network cable, start guide and a PSU/mains cable. The PSU used by ASUSTOR is manufactured by Delta Electronics and rated for 60w. As an optional extra ASUSTOR also offer a small palm sized remote to assist with the HDMI output and media features... more on those later.
