PNY 5900 v Hercules 9800

UNREAL TOURNAMENT 2003:
First Person Shooters are always used in graphics card reviews and there will be no change here. Until Doom3 and Half-life 2 hit the streets later this year Unreal Tournament 2003’s engine is the most demanding FPS engine out there. That combined with its inbuilt benchmarking utility makes it a great choice to show how the cards perform in todays games.

In this test the cards change lead from test to test, at the higher resolution (1600x1200) the FX is well ahead without AA/AF however when this is enabled the results are much closer with each card winning one test. Two things of note here, firstly both cards stayed above 60fps even at the highest resolution/filtering. Secondly, the 9800 manages to score much higher in the Botmatch results which is much more CPU limited.

Next: Eliteforce 2
