It was good to see some impressive Photoshop performance on the last page but we are sure that anyone buying this laptop will be interested in gaming on its lovely 17” screen, so what does the 8800M GTX allow us to do? Well, with the latest 177.89 graphics driver installed (made compatible with our Nvidia Mobility Modder) we were able to play some of the latest games at very impressive settings.

Starting with Lost Planet we ran the game at 1680x1050 with all settings at their maximum level, other than anti-aliasing which was set to off. Overall the game looked and played great and although there was the occasional drop below 25 frames per second, it did not occur frequently enough to spoil our gaming experience.

Next up was Crysis which we chose initially to run at 1280x720 with Very High detail. At this setting the game looked great but a substantial amount of time was spend with quite low performance so we moved to the High setting. This change still gave us a great looking game but also allowed us to play with higher framerates.

In our next two tests, World In Conflict and Race Driver Grid, we were able to play at the X80r’s native resolution of 1920x1200 and with both games detail levels were set to their maximum level which looked excellent on the high gloss screen.
