Final Words and Conclusion

As we stated in the review XFX are really going all out to impress the consumer with this product. As well as the use of a stylish black PCB and green DVIs they have added an enhanced cooler and increased the clockspeeds to levels which significantly exceed the reference design. This would normally result in an increased cost to the end user however in this case that has not happened and the outcome is a card which is £20 cheaper than its competitors overclocked versions.

The bundled extras are a little lacking on this model, a SPIDIF cable and HDMI connector would have been useful but it is understandable that we only get the basics given the price and the fact that all of the features of the higher end GeForce cards remain intact adds real value.

One such area where this really makes the card worth considering is PhysX performance. As a standalone PhysX processor the 9500 GT XXX really excels and it allows us to use additional effects in games without compromising framerates.

For those interested in gaming on a budget the 9500 GT is also worth a look as in most cases it provides playable framerates at 1680x1050, with only a few of the more demanding games requiring a drop to lower settings.

For its performance at a value price point, and its versatility in media and physics processing scenarios the XFX GeForce XXX Alpha Dog Edition wins our Editors Choice award.

The XFX 9500GT Alpha Dog Edition can be found at dabs.com for £54.03 inc. VAT
