Introduction

It is not uncommon for manufacturers to release updated versions of their products a few months after they hit the market, this normally means that the new version has a little extra memory or is configured to a higher speed. Occasionally it can also mean a move to an improved manufacturing process to reduce a products power and heat specifications.

In the case of today’s review product we have something a little different as although the cards do have enhanced clockspeeds it is the configuration of the core which has changed from the model originally released by Nvidia. The new GeForce GTX 260 increases the number of shader processors and should provide a very competitive alternative to the Radeon 4870. Today we will be finding out how well it compares in a selection of the latest games, including Crysis Warhead as well as demonstrating how well it handles Blu-Ray acceleration and PhysX processing.
