World In Conflict
Counter Strike: Source
In the first of our gaming tests, World in Conflict, we see how the two Phenom processors compare in a real world gaming scenario. With a single 4870X2 we see similar results at high resolution and it is quite hard to separate the two processors other than on maximum framerates where the 940 is noticeably higher. When adding a second 4870 X2 into the system for a CrossFireX setup both builds receive a boost in performance but the Phenom 2 allows much higher performance. Running Counter Strike Source at 1024x768 is essentially a CPU limited scenario, especially when using a 4870 X2 and this test allows us to see how far apart the processors are in situations like these. The result is a huge increase in frame rates for the 940 Black Edition thanks to its additional 400MHz and extra cache.
