Call of Duty 2
is even newer than F.E.A.R. and it too is one of
the more demanding games on the market. Through
its use of directX 9 features it also delivers some
of the best smoke and fire effects ever seen in
a game..
Before we look at the results
of the tests it is also worth mentioning that the
issues with textures which affected the 256mb 7800GTX
in the COD2 demo do not affect the 512mb model in
the full retail product which we are testing today.
For our Call Of Duty 2 test
we're using the ingame settings for AA and Aniostropic
filtering on both cards. The 1280x1024 test
show that both our cards on test here are very
evenly matched at this resolution the GTX
is slightly ahead on average though the XT scores
a victory in minimum FPS.
Moving up to 1600x1200 without
any AA or Aniostropic filtering and we see the Geforce
is extending its average fps lead however
both cards score the same on min fps. Adding ingame
AA and Aniso to the test results in some very close
performance figures. The Nvidia card just
edges out its ATI competitor in average
fps however like the 1280x1024 test the Radeon is
just ahead at this setting on minimum FPS.
Overall this is the second
test in our review where the 2 cards share the exact
same playable resolution with both being playable
at 1600x1200 with 4AA and anio enabled ingame.
