Music Encoding
Our music conversion test takes a 15 track lossless album and converts it using CD-DA convertor into 128Kbps MP3 format. Once again the drives are acting as source and destination for the files.
Like the video encoding test there are some benefits to see when changing between drives however whether they are significant enough to merit choosing an SSD over a larger capacity mechanical drive is really down to the individual and their needs. When actually looking at the performance we can see that once again the OCZ Summit provides class leading performance. It is also interesting to note that in this test the two Indilinx based drives (Super Talent and G.Skill) offer identical performance.
