Introduction

XFX have won a plethora of awards on Driverheaven over the years for their superlative range of graphics cards and lately they have taken steps to diversify towards other sectors of the market. They released their first range of motherboards some time ago and today we are one of the first to test and review their first power supply. As any enthusiast would expect, XFX wouldn’t move into the PSU market by releasing a run of the mill mid-range unit.

Their first PSU, the Black Edition 850W boasts features and specifications that could easily make it one of the best possible choices around its power range. Today we will find out if XFX successfully enter a traditionally tricky market sector with a competitive and capable power supply for the discerning enthusiast user. Success or flop? you can be assured we will get the answers today ...

Packaging and Bundle

XFX supply the Black Edition 850W PSU in an eye-catching, large cardboard box with a carrying handle. An array of futuristic artwork covers the sides of the box, but plenty of information about its specifications and features can be found at the rear. The unit is very carefully placed inside and protected by thick cardboard pieces, so it should be perfectly safe during shipping.

XFX is the first company we have seen supplying both an UK and an EU AC power cable with their units in Europe which is a welcome addition. As well as the AC power cable you will also find four basic mounting screws, a well written manual and a very attractive pouch for storing the modular cables which you aren’t going to use.
