Flight
Simulator X is the latest incarnation of Microsoft’s
aeronautic franchise. For those investing in Windows
Vista there are extra graphical treats, however
the game, on XP is still very demanding and looks
gorgeous when configured for full detail.

Flight
Simulator X can be configured to look quite stunning
however to take full advantage of the options
available we really do need some high end hardware
as the results above show. At 1600x1200 all of
the cards really do get pushed hard and all are
in the low to mid thirty's on minimum FPS, on
average FPS the clear performance leader is the
GTX however the GTS is not far behind.
At
1920x1200 the dual GPU solutions put in the most
playable performance with both the X1950XT CF
system and the GX2 remaining playable. The average
FPS figure for the 8800 series cards is impressive,
especially in the case of the GTX however with
such low minimum fps some image quality reduction
would be required to maintain ideal frame rates.
