Introduction

When we visited CeBIT last March there were a couple of manufacturers showing prototypes of socket 1156 based motherboards that had circuitry in place for the next generation of integrated graphics from Intel. In October we saw the launch of socket 1156 and the P55 chipset but there was very little movement on the graphics front. Today that changes.

Today see's the release a new CPU, and chipset, from Intel which are interesting on a variety of levels. As always we will be running the architecture through a selection of real world tests to find out where the latest CPUs in Intel’s product catalogue sit. In addition to this, also on our test bench are a selection of motherboards from Gigabyte, Asus, ECS and Intel which support the new CPU architecture. Read on to find out which best suits your needs.
