Sapphire Radeon HD 5830 - Introduction

Since September AMD and ATI have been slowly releasing an entire range of DirectX 11 capable products into the market. From the low end 5450 to the high end 5970 they have been well received by the press and consumers and as a result over 2million of the 5000 series cards have been shipped by ATI/AMD and their partners.

Although the existing products in the 5000 series cover numerous price points there was a gap, both in retail price and performance, between the mainstream 5770 and enthusiast 5850 and it seems many consumers were aware of this, holding off their purchase to see what ATI had to offer in this price range (which is similar to the GTX 275).

Today we get to see the final (for now) piece of the puzzle in the Radeon 5000 range, the 5830. We will be running the card through a selection of real world gaming tests as well as GPU computing tasks and HD playback to find out how it compares to the 5770, 5850 and GTX 275.
