Nesteq ASM Xzero 600W PSU, Thermal Performance

Load (%) 25% 50% 75% 100%
Intake temperature (Celsius) 19.6 22.1 29.8 36.5
Exhaust temperature (Celsius) 20.9 32.0 46.1 58.7
Temperature Delta (Celsius) 1.3 9.9 16.3 22.2

From the above results we would describe the electrical performance of the ASM Xzero 600W unit as very good. The stability of the voltage lines is good considering this is a power supply aimed towards users who enjoy quiet computing but it would probably disappoint hardcore overclockers who ask for outstanding stability. The electrical efficiency is exceptional and goes up to 88% under nominal load but drops by a whole 7% when the unit is under maximum load. We believe that with some tweaks and/or upgrades this unit can easily deliver a much better 80 Plus certification.

Because of this units ability to stop the cooling fan entirely there was little to no change on the exhaust temperature readings while the fan was stopped (up to 28-30% load). Nesteq tuned the ASM Xzero 600W to dramatically favor the acoustics over thermal performance and as a result the ASM Xzero is one of the quietest power supply units weve ever tested but at the same time its operational temperatures are the hottest we have ever seen. Even though the operating temperature stays well within the safe limits of the high quality components this unit uses we rarely ever see such a severe temperature delta at maximum load from a product with any kind of output. This approach really pays off when it comes to the acoustics performance as we could not hear as much as a whisper coming from the unit even while it was heavily loaded for several minutes.
