Psyko 5.1 Gaming Headset Review

Psyko 5.1 Gaming Headset - Microphone & Amp

As mentioned on the previous page the Psyko 5.1 has microphone functionality and unlike many headsets this is placed on the bottom of the right cup. The mic is attached by a 2.5mm connector and snaps into place never feeling loose. Its casing is plastic with no flex and measures approximately 13cm in length.

Also included in the Psyko 5.1 package is an AMP. This unit measures 10x8x3cm (LxWxH) and like the headset itself there is no DSP or sound processing present in this component. It purely powers the headset offering the ability to boost/reduce the bass level/volume and the master volume through twisting the dials located on the front. Also present on the front is a LED display which signals when the unit is on as well as offering a visual representation of which speakers are active at any particular point.

The top of the amplifier is reasonably plain and turning round to the back we find the headset sockets, colour coded for ease of connection and the power input. Also located here is another wire, similar to that found on the headset, which ends in the four 3.5mm jacks that connect to a 5.1 soundcard.

Specification wise the Psyko 5.1 amp has a nominal input impedance of 1kOhm, 950 ohms minimum. The power level is rated at 125mW per channel, minimum with all channels active and 425mW minimum for any single active channel. Inputs are also protected against damage from signals out with the recommended range.
